In November 2002, the "German Museum" in Munich setup the Center of New Technologies. Here, projects of research and development are exhibited with the focus on topics of common interest in science, society and engineering making use of "New Technologies". One project is the "remote_lab" with a thermal imager, a robot and optical tweezers – experiments locally set up at the exhibition and operatable worldwide via Internet.

The Windows® software Excel for spread sheet analysis can be used as an easy-to-operate measurement program in combination with the analog USB data acquisition systems from BMC Messsysteme GmbH. Any user with basic knowledge of Excel and Visual Basic can create his own control software in Excel adapted to the measurement task.

AN5002: TRAFFIC MODEL

In connection with a computer science project, 23 involved students of the Lenné comprehensive school in Potsdam developed a traffic light control for the frequently used traffic junction "Leipziger Dreieck" ("Triangle of Leipzig"). The goal was to simulate the traffic flow of one day and to optimize it if possible.
